What is Reiki?
Reiki-Definition by Oxford Dictionary/noun: reiki
" A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being."
Reiki was curated by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan circa 20th century, and is a form of complementary therapy.
Reiki effectively activates the body’s own natural healing system in a gentle manner, and is effective for all ages- young babies through to adults.
Reiki is a non-invasive treatment which is safe, and is readily available within the NHS (due to the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council approving the process).
The term Reiki derives from the Japanese words 'rei' meaning 'universal' and 'ki' meaning 'energy'.
The Reiki Practitioner channels the energy from the universe to their client, in order to reciprocate and activate healing of body, mind, emotion and spirit.
This energy is then able to promote general wellbeing, stress reduction, pain reduction, reduce anxiety, improve sleep and it can help to speed up healing.
Reiki can help the recipient with being able to deal with life at an optimum level, and provides a positive feeling of total wellbeing and inner calmness.
Reiki can help all concerns and illnesses and it is safe to use in conjunction with other conventional medical treatments and complementary therapies.
